The Alaskan Independence Party

Dimitri has made it across the Bering Strait, and arrived in Alaska at a very auspicious moment... the Selection of Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin as Senator McCain's running mate.

Dimitri reports that Governor Palin has a very interesting political background, including membership in the Alaskan Independence Party (the AIP). The AIP encourages its members to join established political parties in order to get seek election to political positions. Sarah Palin joined the Republican Party. She was backed by the AIP in her run for the Governorship of Alaska. As Governor she addressed the 2008 AIP Convention, in which she encouraged AIP members to "Keep up the good work..."

The "good work" of the AIP is, as the name suggests, secession of Alaska from the USA.

In the words of AIP founder Joe Vogler, as displayed on the AIP's website "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America and her damned institutions."

Sounds like someone is makin' acorn butter.
